Audemars Piguet LeBron James Watch

A little over a year after announcing US Basketball legend LeBron James as their latest brand ambassador, Audemars Piguet has unveiled their latest limited edition watch and this one is dedicated to the big man. The Royal Oak Offshore Limited Edition LeBron James is a unique model made up of just to 600 pieces in reference to his number ‘6’ jersey at the Miami Heat, and is expected to be delivered in November this year.
This chronograph comes at a LeBron size 44mm in diameter, but you don’t have to be LeBron size to wear it. The fusion of Rose Gold - a heavy metal, and titanium – a light one, creates a balanced feel on the wrist. The titanium bezel is brushed emphasising the gold and grey combination that is a vast contrast from the monotone look of AP’s last unique creation; the Royal Oak Leo Messi.Audemars Piguet LeBron James Limited Edition 26210OI.OO.A109CR.01
The ROO LeBron James also takes the issue of combining diamonds and masculinity head on. When browsing this watch through a shop window you’d be forgiven for not noticing the subtle diamond-set push-piece at 2 o’clock. Both pushpieces and the crown are coated in ceramic, as AP continue to master the art of mixing a number of materials in a more-than tasteful manner.
As per usual with the ROO collection this watch is fitted with an excellent movement. The Calibre 3126/3840 is selfwinding and has a 55-hour power reserve, and the sapphire crystal caseback display is highlighted by a blue ‘LeBron James’ signature matching the colour of the chrono seconds hand (which is much more noticeable in person).
LeBron James is widely regarded as the best Basketball player in the world today. He is a 2-time NBA champion with the Miami Heat and a 2 –time NBA Finals MVP. Commenting on the release James said:
“I’ve loved watches for as long as I can remember, but I first became aware of Audemars Piguet through a friend and mentor of mine… My first visit to Audemars Piguet was incredible. I have never imagined the number of stages and the amount of people involved in making a watch from start to finish, from conception to final product.”
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore LeBron James Limited Edition is priced at £39,640 and will arrive at The Watch Gallery in late November.
